Settled concrete walkway repair and leveling
This settled concrete walkway in Omaha, NE was in pretty poor shape. On some portions of the walkway, the water would run one way, on other areas, it would run another. We were able to raise the walkway up against the brick wall and level other areas. By lifting the sinking concrete abutting the wall, we were able to direct the water where it was supposed to go. A few sections of concrete were causing trip hazards as well, which we managed to fix.
Projects like this can seem simple, though the secret is knowing where to inject the poly foam to achieve the correct lift. In this instance, to eliminate the trip hazard, we lifted the opposite end of the slab. By lifting this way, we caused the trip hazard to sink, as opposed to lifting the slab next to it. We didn’t raise the slab next to it, as that would’ve taken the edge to high, causing it to still drain toward the wall. When we finished we sealed up a few cracks with polyurethane caulk. This ensures that water didn’t penetrate that way again.
