Polyurethane Foam Mudjacking:
The question we hear most often around Omaha, NE is “what is mudjacking?” Mudjacking is the process of slurry based concrete lifting that’s been around for nearly 100 years, it’s also sometimes referred to as “slab jacking”. Typically, mudjacking was performed by injecting the ‘slurry’ through a hole in the settled or sunken concrete which then lifted the concrete slab. In many ways, mudjacking has served well…but unfortunately, in many ways it’s fallen short, relative to newer technology like polyurethane foam concrete lifting. Slurry based mudjacking material is extremely heavy and can serve to further compact the soil beneath your concrete. Mudjacking is not water or erosion proof, so oftentimes water would literally dissolve the dried slurry mix, creating a large cavity beneath the concrete that would need to be fixed again. And finally, mudjacking required that holes as large as 2 1/2″ be drilled through the concrete in some cases, leaving concrete with ugly “scars” from the repair.
We saw a need for a more efficient, cleaner, less invasive and innovative concrete repair method and discovered that using light weight polyurethane foam was the perfect solution for lifting and leveling concrete that was settled or sunk. Though this method hasn’t been around for too long, you may hear it referred to using tradenames such as Polyjacking, Foamjacking, Polylift, etc… these all refer to the process of using a two part (binary) expanding polyurethane foam to lift concrete. Water and erosion resistant, the use of this foam offers customers a nearly invisible repair method by using holes smaller than a dime to level your concrete. Polyurethane foam mudjacking is highly efficient for residential, commercial, and highway projects. We’re asked most frequently to work on sunken or settled driveways, steps, walkways, sidewalks and patios, though we’re happy to take a look at lifting virtually anything that’s concrete!
