These Concrete steps were causing water problems in the basement because water was running toward the house. We brought the steps to the proper level, allowing water to drain away from the home. The homeowner is a real estate investor who purchased the property with knowledge of the problem. ConcreteMedic has worked with the investor previously, so they knew the problem could be fixed for far less than replacement.
We believe that the problem began with a gutter downspout that emptied onto the patio at the base of the steps. The water entered between the patio and the wall, allowing both the patio and steps to sink. We found that the water had formed a void beneath the surface. The void had to be filled with poly foam before the lifting could take place. Eventually we were able to inject enough poly foam to begin to see movement in the steps and patio. Once movement began, it was a fairly quick process to get the concrete to the level that it needed to be at. We raised the steps a little bit past level, so water would drain away from the wall.
