Sinking Concrete? No Problem!

Sinking Concrete? No Problem!

This concrete side walkway in Omaha, NE had sunk nearly 5″ before we arrived to help. Not only that, but it was pitched toward the foundation wall. This allowed water to enter the home and caused a wet basement. Using our poly foam concrete mudjacking process, we were able to get the walkway lifted back into the proper position.  We ended up saving the homeowner thousands of dollars versus the cost of replacement.  The walkway was largely monolithic and would have been quite expensive to replace.  The cause of this concrete sinking was a combination of poor soil compaction and water infiltration.  Water running along the wall and running down the joint between the walkway and wall was likely the biggest problem.

Dealing with water is really fairly simple, get it away from the structure as quickly as possible.  The further and faster you can get it away from your home, the less problems you’ll have.  And by home, we also mean concrete.  Keep the water away and a majority of your problems will go away.  Will concrete still sink?  Possibly, as mentioned above, there is also a fair amount of sinking concrete caused by poor compaction.  However, poor compaction likely comprises only about 25% of the problems we see.

If you have sinking concrete (and like saving money!), don’t hesitate to give us a call, we’d love to help! Remember…”Sinking Concrete?
